Spot Cooler & Portable A/C Rental in Northern Minnesota

Portable A/C · Backus, Minnesota

Rent a portable spot cooler from BCI Rentals for targeted cold air in a shop, work area or suitable enclosed event space. The Airrex HSC-18R is listed in our 1.5-ton class and has a published cooling capacity of 16,800 BTU/hr. Call (218) 947-3353 for a rate and availability, and plan power, warm-air exhaust and condensate before setup.

Portable cooling with a planned exhaust route

A spot cooler directs cold air where it is needed and rejects warm air through a separate outlet. In an enclosed room, route that warm air to an appropriate location outside the cooled area. Leaving both air streams in the same room will not provide effective whole-room cooling.

Where spot cooling fits

Shops and workstations

Direct cold air toward a defined work area when cooling an entire building is impractical. Consider equipment heat, people, open doors and nearby processes. A spot cooler's local effect is different from maintaining a set temperature throughout a warehouse.

Temporary room cooling

For an enclosed room or supplemental cooling need, confirm a warm-air exhaust path, room air replacement needs, available power and condensate handling. Tell us about sensitive equipment and any required temperature range before selecting the setup.

Tents and lakes-area events

For weddings, resort events or other temporary spaces, cooling depends heavily on enclosure, sun exposure, guest count and weather. Call with the tent size and event layout. A spot cooler may suit a defined area, while a larger enclosed tent may need industrial temporary A/C.

Cooling, circulation and humidity

Large fans move air and can improve comfort, but they do not refrigerate it. Air conditioning removes heat and also collects condensate while cooling. For a drying project where moisture removal is the main goal, consider a commercial dehumidifier.

Ask BCI about the exhaust ducting and condensate arrangement for the unit supplied. A drain route or pump may be needed depending on the setup; confirm accessories before reserving.

Spot cooler rental questions

Can I plug the HSC-18R into any wall outlet?

No. It uses 115V power but requires the correct NEMA 5-20 receptacle on a suitable 20A circuit. Confirm the outlet, circuit and any extension arrangement before the rental. Do not assume that an ordinary 15A household outlet will work.

Does the hot air need to be vented?

For cooling an enclosed room, warm exhaust needs an appropriate route out of that cooled area. The unit has a 12-inch top warm-air outlet. Call about compatible ducting and any replacement-air requirements.

How large a room will it cool?

Floor area alone cannot determine the answer. Ceiling height, insulation, sun, people, equipment and outdoor air entering the room all add cooling load. Give BCI those details to discuss whether one spot cooler, multiple units or larger A/C is the better fit.

Is this model also a heater?

The HSC-18R on this page is a spot cooler. For temporary heat, see our heater rental options. Heat mode is available on select larger A/C units and must be confirmed for the equipment reserved.
